Starting in 2016 All heavy equipment vehicles are equipped with the new high speed J1939 Type 2 system. This system has Green colored connectors instead of the standard black Type 1. A type 1 connector cannot plug into a type 2, but the type 2 can plug into both.

The Green connector is available with a locking ring and without a locking ring. Rotating the locking ring when connected assures that the connector cannot come unplugged accidentally. The connector without the lock ring is pressure fitted and is more suited for a test or diagnostic environment where the connector is plugged and unplugged regularly. Many pieces of test equipment or GPS units are capable of handling the high data rates in a type 2 system. This adapter will allow these units to attach to a type 2 system.

J1939 Type 2 (Green) Female to OBD2 Female F/G Adapter

Some vehicles will have older (250k data) on pins F and G with the newer Type 2 connector. This adapter will connect the older data from pins F and G of the Type 2 connector to the CAN lines of the OBD2 connector. This will allow your existing systems to be used on the new vehicles. Check with your vehicle manufacturer to see if the 250k J1939 data is supplied on pins F and G.
