This cable is designed to go between your vehicle's OBD2 connector and a scan tool. It is not designed to go from an OBD2 diagnostic port directly to your computer's RS232 serial port. For instance, on a serial connector on your computer, pin 2 is a data line. On this cable, pin 2 is a chassis ground.
